About
Hector A. Rodriguez

Hector A. Rodriguez was born in Granada Hills, California, and moved to Northwest Arkansas in the late 1980s. He went to school in Bentonville, Arkansas for most of his schooling, and moved to other parts of the United States while growing up. Throughout his life, he was confronted with many different challenges. Domestic violence, racism, school gangs, drugs, and more, eventually led him down the wrong path, and he found himself spiraling into a severe drug addiction and continuous run-ins with the law. In prison for robbery, he took a college course that sparked a positive chain of events in his life. Discovering that knowledge was his way out, he taught himself a third language while in prison and continued to teach himself anything that he could to spend his time productively. He continued college upon his release, graduated in 2014 with an associate degree, and was awarded a lifetime membership in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society for excellence in his studies. Though the journey to sobriety was not an easy one, and nearly cost him his life on several occasions, it took him fifteen years and more than a decade in and out of the prison system to finally achieve it. During that time, he never gave up learning and is currently studying for a bachelor's degree in psychology at a private university in Mexico, where he built a home with his wife and writes books. Upon graduating, he plans to open a private practice to help people change their lives.
