A Team Builder and Professional – with over thirty years of successfully operating in the most dangerous and difficult regions in the world. ‘Schafer’ founded the Ministry of Sailing, the International NGO Safety and Security Association, Hostage USA and leads the most progressive ocean safety organization in the world. He builds teams! The Ministry of Sailing is made up of veterans who are sailors which have raced in many of the round the world events. He is a vessel safety inspector for ocean racing, safety expert and US Sailing International Offshore Certification Moderator. Not afraid of any challenge – he has continually demonstrated qualities of leadership and innovation when he professionalized NGO Security and then advanced it to parallel current Corporate Security models. He creates solutions to global problems. Selected was the first NGO to be recognized as ‘The Most Influential’, by "Security Magazine". He served on the US State Department, Africa Regional Council for OSAC, and continues to consult in Maritime Crisis Response for organizations based across the globe. Despite these accomplishments, he still found time to race on some of the most powerful racing yachts as a professional sailor.
