Kathleen Aponick and Elaine M. Casey
Kathleen Aponick, a former teacher and editor, is a published poet with an interest in genealogy. Her poetry collections include Bright Realm (Turning Point, 2013), The Descendant’s Notebook (Kelsay Books, 2020), and two poetry chapbooks, Near the River’s Edge (Pudding House Publications, 1995) and The Port (Finishing Line, 2006). Her poems have appeared in many journals, including Poetry East, Notre Dame Review, and Hollins Critic. She and her sister, Mary Paula Baumann, published their mother’s family history, The Family of John Joseph Hughes and Mary Lennon Hughes and the Families of Their Siblings (Higginson Books 2000, revised 2004, 2020). Elaine M. Casey joined her first cousin Kathleen Aponick in publishing a history of their fathers’ family, The Family of Edmond R. Casey and Mary J. Healy and the Families of Their Siblings (Lulu 2008, revised 2010, 2013). Elaine was Financial Administrative Officer for the Department of Biology at MIT for twenty-six years. She continued to work in the business world in the Boston area until her retirement in 2002. Today she spends much of her time with family and friends in both Massachusetts and Florida.
