About
K.J Woolton
I’m Karen. My early career was replaced by the role 'mother' which for many know becomes your main identity. As they have grown so have I and I have extended my roles beyond the society norms and claimed back who I am. My mid-life career saw me complete my degree in Childhood to begin teaching training, a far cry from the Marine Biologist I inspired to be, but life as we know has other plans and a leap of faith landed me working as a Scrum Master instead. I am a creative individual. Most of that creativity comes through my art and photography which I have extended into writing and designing book covers. I love having an idea that I want to bring to life. In photography I ask 'could I use this basket for new-born photography?' in my writing , it's darker, 'could I hide a body here'. Even from a creative outlet there is more to it than just the ‘idea’ there is the research and execution. Researching police procedure’s, the psyche of a killer and their motive. Setting the scene and telling a story is what drives my creativity. I published my first short story 'A Death so Dandy' in 2022. That inspired me to write again and thanks to my friends, family and colleagues who encourage my ideas (and may just be scared of how they could die, on paper) I suddenly have eleven writing projects to fulfil and a lot of various research to run through.
