Karl Kahler was a follower of The Way for seven years and a member of the 14th Way Corps. He graduated from the University of Southern California in 1989 with honors in history and journalism and joined the San Jose Mercury News, where he has worked for more than 20 years. He has two sons and lives in Los Gatos, California.
