About
Lana Johnston

I am a mother of 4, small business owner in Noblesville, Indiana. I am a native of Darke County, Ohio. I became interested in my grandfather's life after my mother loaned me his World War I diary. As I anxiously read the faded pages of his diary, it became clear he wanted his memories saved and passed down through future generations. The time I spent transcribing page by page of his pencil written words, I cherish. Through his many battles, barrages, wounds, and gas attacks, he always made time to write in his journal. It was as if he were writing these lines just for me to memorialize not only him, but all of the brave young men and women who asked no questions, but served their country with pride and honor. This book contains many pictures and military documents, awards, and my grandfather's obituary. Although I had never met him, I am closer to him now and the connection his diary brings to our family is invaluable.
