Linda Ostrander

Linda Woodaman Ostrander, a musician by training, has interests in visual arts and writing as well. She is a graduate of Oberlin Conservatory (B. Mus.), Smith College (M.A.), Boston University (D.M.A.) and The Union Institute (Ph.D.) In addition to over 100 musical compositions she has written many song lyrics and poems. Her mother, Fleeta Woodaman, lived with Linda and her husband during the last five years of her life. Fleeta had always wanted to publish, and Linda assembled some of her poetry in a book for her 99th birthday. After Fleeta's death in 2010 Linda began writing more poetry and decided to publish this book. The poetry and narrative which Linda wrote address common experiences and problems of growing up and growing old. Add to this some poems by Lisa, one of her daughters, and Calliope, her granddaughter, and you have a unique book that reflects on love, life and leaving. Linda says that the book was a labor of love and a step to healing.
