JC McKeown is Professor of Classics at the University of Wisconsin. Originally from Ireland, he has lived and taught in the U.S. for the past 25 years. He and his wife, Jo Winston, combined their shared love of horses with Jim's classical background to write, What, No Stirrups?, Horses and Riders in Greek and Roman Times. Jim is the author of several other books published by Oxford University Press and Hackett Publishing. He and his wife live in Verona, Wisconsin with their dog Riley, 3 horses (Maeve, Tanz and Maddie) and their 5 year old mule, Molly. They enjoy spending time at the barn with their family, especially their two grandsons, Patrick and Oliver.
