The Saco Museum is an outstanding regional museum of history and the arts. Its partner institution is the Dyer Library, which serves as the public library for the City of Saco. Collections highlights include the largest collection anywhere of paintings by renowned Deaf portraitist John Brewster, Jr.; the remarkable 8 x 850-foot long Panorama of Pilgrim's Progress, painted by many of the most recognized artists in 19th-century America, Federal-era decorative arts from Saco's golden era of craftsman ship, and an array of artifacts illustrating Saco's long history of industry. Library archives are also a great resource for geneologists, history buffs, and others. The library and museum both feature changing exhibitions related to Saco's rich history and artistic traditions, past and present, enhanced by engaging programs for all ages.
