Mel Vina is a writer, spoken word artist, aspiring model and living proof that with faith, perserverance, and tons of therapy, anyone can live a positive, productive life despite whatever trauma they may have experienced. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and raised in West Philly, Mel is a fighter who came up from the bottom. As an activist in Philadelphia, Mel has worked extensively with troubled youth. In 2008, she founded "Speak Up, Speak Out" a peer based support group for survivors of sexual violence dedicated to raising awareness and educating the public about sexual abuse/rape. Mel is also active with various other groups dedicated to helping survivors of sexual violence. In the field of entertainment, Mel has been on many platforms.
