NGARTO FEBRUANA was born in Batu, Malang, East Java, Indonesia on 4 February 1967. He completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown. Ngarto graduated from Indonesian Literature Department, Faculty of Letters, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta in 1995. He is actively writing short stories between 1986 to 1997. Some of his short stories have been published by Yogyakarta local media and national media. Lorong Tanpa Cahaya (Aisle Without Light) is his first novel, was first published in 1999.His second novel, Menolak Panggilan Pulang (Reject Call Home), published in July 2000. The third novel, Tapol (Prisoner), printed and published in 2002, and Harga Seorang Wanita (A Price A Woman) published in 2006. Currently Ngarto work as journalist at Tempo, Jakarta-based media company.
