Omi Omi Iré is an unapologetic Black Feminist and abolitionist with over two decades of Reproductive Justice leadership. She currently serves as Executive Director of Chicago Volunteer Doulas, centering birth and reproductive justice for those most marginalized by inadequate medical care. Previously, she co-led Lift Louisiana and served as Director of Reproductive Health and Justice at Women With A Vision, where she co-launched the first statewide effort to decriminalize sex work in the nation, developing the Deep South Decrim Toolkit and organizing historic testimony by 119 sex workers and allies at the Louisiana State House. In 2021–22, she created and hosted Old Pro News, a global podcast on sex worker rights. Her work has twice reached the U.S. Supreme Court through RJ Amicus Briefs, including in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. Named to the Bitch 50 in 2020 for her abortion access advocacy, Omi’s influence spans policy, organizing, and storytelling. Her career began in Chicago as an LGBTQ rights organizer. She and her partner were among the first civil union couples in Illinois and part of the legal fight for marriage equality before Obergefell v. Hodges. As a former Health Educator at Chicago Women’s Health Center, she provided care to sex workers, women, trans, and GNC communities.
