Alan has been a working professional photographer for more than three decades and was an early adopter of digital technology. He purchased his first digital camera in 1996 and has never looked back. His client list includes such well known names as American Express, The Nasdaq Stock Market, AXA Financial Services, Accenture and many others. For the past six years he has been teaching the basics of digital photography at the adult education level and these books grew out of that experience. As students asked more and more questions, it became clear that the transition to digital photography was a lot more complicated than most people thought. The Extraordinary Guide series provides an illuminated path by which to navigate the complexity of this medium. In 2010, Alan was named an Outstanding Adult Educator by the Suffolk Association for Continuing Community Education.
