Roy (Road Dog) Van Westbroek was born on the island of Java, Dutch East Indies, in the 1950s, and grew up there until the age of seven when he and the family were relocated to Breda, Holland, and eventually ended up in Los Angeles, California, in December 1961. President John. F. Kennedy had just been elected. Raised and educated in Los Angeles, and Pasadena, Roy received his Bachelor of Arts degree from CSU Dominguez Hills in Carson, California. He served in the US Navy, and the California Air National Guard from 1969 until his retirement in 1997. Retired from the Los Angeles Unified School District, he now spends his time on the road with his beloved Harley. Roy is an active member of the American Legion Post 262 in Fontana, California.
