John Marshall

John Marshall is an Assistant Professor (of Art & Design) at the School of Art & Design and an Assistant Professor (of Architecture) at the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan. He earned a Ph.D. from Robert Gordon University where his thesis was on hybrid art and design practice; master’s degrees in sculpture and art as environment from The Ohio State University and Manchester Metropolitan University; and an undergraduate degree in fine art from Glasgow School of Art. From 1999 to 2003 he worked as part of a collaborative product development team at Evenflo Company, Inc. John regularly serves on the advisory boards and programming committees of conferences related to the intersection of art, design and technology. He is co-author (with Julian Bleecker) of ‘Undisciplinarity’ published in the book “Digital Blur: Stories from the Edge of Creative Design Practice”, Rodgers and Smyth (eds.) Libri Publishing, 2010.
