Richard Stevko
Richard Stevko was introduced to photography by his father, an accomplished amateur who was influenced by the FSA artists and the heyday LIFE magazine photographers. He later studied with Jack Leigh a regional photographer and storyteller. Stevko studied painting with Ning Yeh, the Chinese brush painter, his consciousness was influenced by family friendship with Joseph Kocklemans, the Existential Phenomenologist Philosopher, and honed by seminars with Antonio Damasio, the neurologist. His experience has been informed by years spent as a Professor of Pediatrics, and as Director of Pediatric Diagnosis and also teaching Psychology and Neurophysiology. Counseling adolescents with behavioral and learning problems has expanded his perception. As an undergraduate minoring in literature, the love of poetry suffused the belief that parsimoniousness of expression is the cauldron which anneals perception.
