About
S.L. Wilson
S. L. Wilson grew up in the heart of Oklahoma, where farm life, rodeos, and the old rhythms of small-town living shaped much of his early years. Born in Oklahoma City and raised across Sulphur, Blackwell, Tonkawa, and other parts of Kay County—including the Kaw, Ponca, and Tonkawa Nations—his roots run deep in the rich heritage of the region. From a family steeped in frontier tradition, his father once performed as a stuntman and gunfighter at Frontier City, while his cousin was a trick rider and his grandfather trained teamster horses. Encouraged by teachers who recognized his early talent, Wilson began writing poetry in grade school and never stopped. A U.S. Navy veteran who served overseas on the island of Sardegna, he later worked for the Department of Defense and now lives in Pond Creek, Oklahoma, with his wife of 19 years and their three children. When asked what he’d do if money weren’t an issue, his answer has always been simple: write stories. He is the author of the western series The Adventures of Cross-Eyed Kate, set in a fictional version of the 1870s and 1880s American West. All five books are finished and available, and the noir superhero novel Gumshoe: A Detective Story. Wilson is currently at work on a romance novel called "Salt & Serve" based on his true-life events while serving overseas in La Maddalena, Sardegna Italy in early 1990s 1991-95, along with a Cold War-era superhero novel titled Freedom Force.
