About
Forensic Floriculture

Brian Whipker is a Professor of Floriculture at North Carolina State University. His specialty over the past 30 years has been diagnosing abiotic disorders of greenhouse plants. He is an “Abiotic Problem” consultant with the North Carolina Plant Disease and Insect Clinic. He assists the Agronomic Division of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services on nutritional issues. His research focuses on plant nutrition, leaf tissue analysis standards, nutrient disorders, and plant growth regulators. Whether a disease, pest, nutritional disorder, or physiological issue, assisting greenhouse growers with problem diagnostics has been a primary focus. Along the way, numerous diagnostic photos have been recorded, which has created one of the most extensive collections of images. These diagnostic guides provide the most complete, holistic collection of problem-solving photos.
