Karamokoh B. Wurie
Karamokoh Wurie was Born in Free Town, Sierra Leone, West Africa. Growing up in Sierra Leone was such a harsh and humbling experience for Karamokoh: "I remember the times when we would have dinner. I would try my hardest not to finish my food, all in one sitting. I would want to save some for the next day, because the next meal may not come in two, three days or so. That used to be a tough choice, knowing how good the food tasted. "But you always have to think of the next day," as my mother used to say. Perhaps it was one of my older cousin's advice that helped me out the most. He would suggest that we drank a lot of water after each meal so that we would get full quicker and the meal would last longer in our stomach. That idea seemed very good at the time but not on school week when I had to walk on foot for about 30 minutes on that dusty, rugged road to school. Walking that length of a distance in the hot sun, while having a stomach partially full of water was not always the right ch
