About Shaunacy
Shaunacy is a Registered Psychotherapist and sex therapist from Ontario, Canada, specializing in sexuality and intimacy, relationship counselling, reproductive and perinatal support, complex trauma, and midlife experiences. She has a particular focus on perimenopause and menopause. Her academic background spans a BA (Honours) and MPhil from the University of Glasgow, doctoral studies in Canadian Studies at Trent University, and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. She brings both research fluency and genuine warmth to everything she does. Shaunacy was the Director of Doula Training Canada and creator of the Menopause Doula Program — one of the first formalized perimenopause and menopause support programs in the world, now training practitioners internationally. This book grows directly from that mission. In her clinical practice, she draws on EMDR, CBT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method. She is also a member of multiple counselling and health organizations and a Certified Health Coach specializing in midlife wellness. Shaunacy lives in Ontario with her husband Greg and children Hayden and Norah. She believes in honest conversation — in therapy rooms, living rooms, and on the page.
