Simon Preston is a devoted husband and father who has faced the unimaginable loss of his daughter, Bethany-Shannon. Through his writing, Simon seeks to honour her memory and share the profound impact she had on his life. His memoir, "The Year of Firsts," is a heartfelt tribute to the love and support that sustained his family during their most challenging times. Simon is an educator and currently a student on the EdD programme at Oxford Brookes University. He has delivered talks in England and Ireland on topics relating to neurodiversity and trauma. Simon is passionate about helping others navigate the complexities of grief and loss, and he hopes that by sharing his personal journey, he can offer comfort and hope to those who are facing similar challenges. Simon is always open to talking about his experiences, particularly focusing on male mental health and the experiences of a bereaved father. He believes that sharing his story can help others who have experienced the painful loss of a child understand that they are not alone. His writing is characterised by its emotional depth, honesty, and the resilience of the human spirit. When he is not writing, Simon enjoys spending time with his family, exploring the outdoors, and finding solace in the simple joys of life. He continues to advocate for mental health awareness, especially male mental health, and support for grieving families.
