Koen Byttebier is a Belgian legal scholar, professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), and practising lawyer. He holds a doctorate in law from Ghent University, awarded with the highest distinction, and has built an extensive academic career in economic and financial law. He is the author and editor of a substantial body of legal publications, including monographs, textbooks and edited volumes. Beyond his professional specialisation, he has for many years cultivated, in his free time, a particular fascination with philosophy and physics. That longstanding interest gradually developed into an independent exploration of foundational questions in mathematics and theoretical physics. What began as a personal intellectual pursuit grew into a broader sequence of explorations and, ultimately, into "The Stream and the Algebra", a multi-volume mathematics and physics paper series. Conceived as an exploratory programme rather than a closed body of work, the series continues to evolve as its different lines of inquiry are developed, refined and brought into dialogue with one another.
