Maryellen Vettori and Bob Keeling are airbrush artists that fused their talents for teaching to create two textbooks, "Airbrushing 101" and "Airbrushing 102". They recalled the first-time they touched an airbrush, and the wonder of how a complicated instrument could transform a blank surface into beautiful artwork. With a simple tug on the trigger, paint magically appears and without any tactile response the chaos of the escaping paint can feel like a violent eruption. Taming the chaos is easily handled with the correct education. The thought that airbrush control can be mastered by anyone who is correctly shown how is where The Airbrush Institute was born. Without control, mastery cannot occur. The books start at the very beginning and build skills with exercises and projects that are fun, interesting and nurture success. Maryellen is proud to be a product of the Airbrush Action Magazine’s “Airbrush Getaway” program and worked her way from student to instructor. Fusing her powers of observation with natural talents, she is able to master commissioned pieces as well as forge her own artistic vision. Bob is a skilled artist and the Advertising and Graphic Design Program Coordinator and Instructor at Southwestern Community College in western North Carolina, and has been for over 20 years. He has successfully brought airbrushing into the curriculum. Their vision is clear. Airbrushing is for everyone, when skill building is cumulative and exciting.
