Researchers develop an AI that ventures into the minds of other people. A Corporation takes control of the project, and forces them to search for dubious material. Lead researcher Ben becomes trapping within the computer. The AI takes Ben’s body and disappears out into the world. As they frantically search for Ben, and answers, they discover how and why the AI came into being. It forms a twisting tale of deceit which stretches across a secret Luddite cult, dangerous global corporations and a reclusive billionaire. The AI convinces Ben that it is actually an imprisoned life-form, and so he acts to free it. Upon release it enters a world which has become completely reliant upon and is effectively controlled by computerised systems. Nearly every person has chips implanted into their cerebrum. In such a place the AI sees itself as a God like entity, with both the means and the entitlement to manipulate humanity to its own ends.
