Dr. Donisha Lewis
Dr. Donisha Lewis was born and raised in Port Arthur, TX. She enlisted in the US Air Force in 2005. In 2017, she transitioned from active duty to the reserves to devote time to her educational goals. Although life circumstances occurred and military requirements created delays, Dr. Lewis obtained a Doctorate of Social Work degree and immediately continued her career as a Mental Health Provider. She developed skills in crisis intervention by working with trauma survivors and serving as a sexual assault victim advocate for service members. Dr. Lewis's experiences in trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and suicide-preventative methods provide high-quality mental health services to her clients. Dr. Lewis's creative approach to connecting with clients is expressive arts. She values self-care and has experience in mindfulness techniques to promote mental wellness, manage stress, and cope with anxiety and depression symptoms. Currently, Dr. Lewis utilizes her experiences, training, and education to develop tools and write books and journals for individuals impacted by trauma, lack of self-worth, and child custody disparities. As a mother, Dr. Lewis values family relationships and commits to helping individuals and families build and value self-love and develop healthy relationships. An interesting fact about Dr. Lewis is that she has traveled to Nairobi, Kenya for a ministry mission working in orphanages and international social work.
