Hopeless Humanism

What is humanism? Where did it come from and where is it going? Has the whole world rejected Christianity in favour of humanism and if so, why are most people unsure what it is? But if humanism has failed to catch the imagination of the masses, why do most people still prefer to ignore God and Christianity? How does humanism affect our worldview today and what are the alternatives? Is there hope or is life hopeless?
