Teenager V The System
The Complaints, The Battles & The Fight for Justice
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Every organisation in this book had the same idea about how this would go: state the decision, wait for it to be accepted, move on to the next case in the queue. It rarely worked out that way.
This is a firsthand account of four real disputes. There is a a district council, a bank, a town council, a county council, all fought using nothing but formal complaints, escalation letters, ombudsman referrals, and a habit of keeping better records than the organisations on the other end of them. A stalled house move. A loyalty scheme that said yes, twice, then no. A council tax bill nobody could quite explain. A parking penalty issued to someone who was eligible for an exemption she didn't yet have the paperwork to prove.
Not every fight ends the same way. Some end quietly, once someone with real accountability actually looks at the file. Some end in an answer instead of a result — real information, honestly obtained, changing nothing about the original decision. And one is still going, because a settlement offer isn't the same thing as an explanation, and an explanation was the actual point.
Along the way: a plain, practical account of how the process actually works — which door to knock on, what a formal complaint does that a normal email doesn't, and why keeping a proper record matters before you think you'll need one.
You don't need power to be taken seriously. You need to be willing to ask "why," and to keep asking it after the first answer.
