The year? 2052. Location? Earth. But not as we once knew it. Plundered by crisis after crisis, our planet has been transformed. It is a shadow of its former self. You are among the human beings that remain. We – and the planet – have been given a second chance. How shall we be resurrected? That is the great question of this new age. Here are 27 possibilities, an archive of proposals by march spatial practice students miraculously rescued from the ruins of what was once a prestigious college of art and design, central saint martins. They date from 2022, the epicentre of what we now call the age of crises. Now, in 2052, they seem like a poignant, last-ditch attempt to steer us out of the future that engulfed us all. Perhaps these recovered visions offer us paths out of the chaos, towards alternative futures of care, collaboration and social justice. We invite you to explore the rescued artifacts guided or unguided: a programme of conversations, presentations, performances, and archive footage awaits.
