The Calling of Stanley Barber

College graduation hasn't changed anything for Stanley Barber. He still spends most of his time with his drug-dealing friend Rodi, high on marijuana and alcohol, and depressed and lonely. Worse, summer has almost passed with no calls for his new skills … until now. Crooked from a day of hard drinking, Stanley scribbles in false information on an application for St. Peter's Catholic High School. He believes he has no chance of being hired, that his unlucky jobless streak will continue and his effort will merit no response. When it does, everything begins to change. Even the Long Beach weather.
