Growing up with learning disabilities can be difficult and confusing; I know this from personal experience. I wrote 'A Different Alphabet' to help families understand more about their child's differences & help kids get along with a wide variety of people. Using an easy technique of kitchen art that is fun for the whole family, young people can learn about their emotions, communicate more effectively with others, & improve their daily coping skills. As I was making each sculpture, I would discuss my feeling about the particular emotion or situation I was trying to show. As a sculpture took form, I found it became easier for me to explore how I dealt with that issue on an everyday basis. The suggestions I give in this book have been useful to me in my own life. With help from family and friends, I worked very hard in college and received my 2-yr degree. My passions are playing violin, singing, & working with food. I hope to continue to help children enjoy food art in the future.
