ARISTOTLE’S AETIOLOGY: during his stay in Athens, he taught in his own Peripatetic school. Aristotle believed that happiness stems from human reason; ideal political state an enlightened monarchy. His works (Ethics, Politics, Metaphysics, Biology, etc.) have had a profound effect on thinkers through the ages. Aristotle trained as a physician, brought to his philosophy a due respect for fact, on which, with the aid of his analytical methods, he based his doctrines. He was the first to work out a theory of reasoning which, with amplification, through the addition of modern symbolic logic, has survived to the present day as deductive logic.
