A Kind of Joy is a facsimile sketchbook — raw, handwritten, and unedited — tracing one mind's movement across seven interlocking disciplines: Architectural, Graphic, Sound, Space, Cartography, Poetry, and Planetology. Composed in the wake of a retreat, its sixty-plus pages hold gesture before explanation: loose marks, half-formed diagrams, fragments of language, and the kind of thinking that happens before it becomes a finished thought. There is no fixed order here, and no pretence of one. A line becomes a building becomes a sound becomes a word. Architecture bleeds into cartography; poetry interrupts planetology. The book asks to be read the way it was made — by following curiosity rather than chapters. Threaded through the pages is a quieter instruction, almost incidental: 'build good habits, little bit by little bit.' It's less a thesis than a reminder, the kind a person leaves for themselves on the way somewhere else. For readers of the author's 'Eschatological Narratives' and the wider MuMaGi cosmology, 'A Kind of Joy' offers something different — not the architecture of a finished system, but the sketchbook underneath it. For everyone else, it's an intimate look at how a transdisciplinary practice actually moves on the page, day to day, mark by mark.
