Who is my neighbour? is a new musical presentation of the Biblical story of the Good Samaritan - in which the characters of the original parable are fused with mythical and musical elements from Arab and Jewish cultural history. Written by the British composer Antony Pitts specially for the joint forces of Dal'ouna and Fifth Quadrant as part of the Road to Jericho project, and premiered at Spitalfields in 2011, Who is my neighbour? combines ritualized movement with musical gestures and colours from both Western and Middle Eastern sources. A recording made under the direction of the composer during an Aldeburgh residency in the Kiln Studio, Snape will be available in due course. A recording of the violin-viola duo Neighbours? with narration by the composer's son is available from iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/road-to-jericho-neighbours/id422140854.
