Every angel has a first appearance and a long road after it. This book walks both, and tells you which is which.
The Ones Who Are Sent is a guide to twenty-two archangels, from Michael, Gabriel and Raphael to Uriel, Metatron, Sandalphon, Azrael and Ariel. Each entry begins with the angel’s earliest appearance in sacred writing: the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament, the Qur’an and hadith, the Book of Enoch, and the Bible of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. It then follows the traditions that came after: Jewish mysticism, Christian liturgy, Islamic teaching, Renaissance magic and contemporary devotion.
Every claim is marked by where it comes from: scripture, tradition, the occult, modern practice, or the author’s own reading. Nothing new dresses up as ancient. Each entry closes with its correspondences, its symbols and, where one belongs, a prayer. Twenty-two full-page plates accompany the text.
Written for readers of any faith or none, this guide is the companion to The Ones Who Are Sent: An Archangel Journal. It contains no seals and no summonings, only the roads by which these names reached us, and room for what cannot be gathered into a book.
