During an afternoon of the year 1888, Dr. Watson is surprised that Sherlock Holmes has an older brother, Mycroft Holmes, with better abilities and doesn´t take advantage of them. Sherlock Holmes doesn´t know exactly how to explain the strange behavior of his beloved brother, although he points out that he isn´t ambitious, not energetic and only deals in a very exclusive world, including the elite Diogenes club.
They meet with Mycroft, who brings his neighbor Melas, a renowned Greek interpreter, that tells how he was kidnapped, taken about two hours away from London, and forced to interpret for a Greek, being held captive along with another woman, who speaks Greek and English.
The interpreter Melas tried to find out the situation by inserting additional phrases and asking the prisoner other questions in Greek, but at the end, the presence of the woman prevented him from fulfilling his objective, although he understood that they were forcing the detainee to transfer his and the woman’s properties to them. Later, the interpreter is paid for his translation services, is abandoned far from his house and threatened not to tell about what has happened.
