My Life with Raymond

“My Life with Raymond” is an entertaining yet unusual memoir. It begins with treasured memories of growing up during the Great Depression of the 1930s in Alabama, with my mother, grandmother and three older sisters. It continues through my 49 out-of-the-ordinary years of marriage to a man who was a serious weekend alcoholic. I knew early on that I couldn’t dwell on the unreal, bizarre and crazy weekends Raymond created. He was drunk every Friday night, all day and all night Saturday and never sobered up before Sunday. This was his pattern for years. You won’t believe many of the weekend escapades our children and I endured. Some of the crazy things he would do were downright funny, yet some were so surreal and were hard to believe unless you witnessed it as we did. The story is both heartbreaking and heartwarming.
