The World English Bible

The World English Bible Catholic Edition is a modern English translation of the Holy Scriptures based on the public domain World English Bible (WEB). It follows contemporary American English usage while maintaining accuracy and reverence to the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts. This Catholic edition includes all the books recognized by the Catholic Church, incorporating the Deuterocanonical books (Tobit, Judith, Wisdom, Sirach, Baruch, 1 & 2 Maccabees, and additions to Esther and Daniel). It provides a clear, readable, and faithful rendering of the biblical text suitable for study, prayer, and liturgical reading. The WEB Catholic Edition retains the WEB’s distinctive features—such as modern spelling, open access (public domain), and the use of “Yahweh” in the Old Testament for the divine name—making it an excellent choice for both personal devotion and academic use.
