Safe in the Shadows

Roy Chalmers a retired professional criminal was relaxing in the evening aboard his motor launch moored in the marina in Mentone in the South of France. His mind was as usual on Margo and the guilt that now totally possessed him. He knew that he and only he was to blame for the accident a few months earlier that had left her now lying in a coma in the local hospital. His thoughts were interrupted as Thomas a retired police superintendent came aboard to join him for a drink. He then suggested to Roy that as he had obviously lost the place he should go back over his life and discover just where he had gone wrong. Roy spent the rest of the early evening doing just that as he finished his second bottle of wine. His mind went back to his most lucrative activity back in Scotland and through this how Margo a working call girl had come into his life.
