Light between the Lines features an extraordinary collection of poetry, prose and visual art, an experimental exploration of life within an often overlooked and underserved community. The STAR Project is an organisation like no other. There is an unwavering sense of togetherness, of belonging and pride. The love this community feels for ‘their STAR’ shines through each and every one of the pages in this book. Over the course of my residency, we explored themes like friendship, hope and home, as well as the everyday heroes in our lives. Light between the Lines has become a treasure chest filled to the brim with kindness and curiosity. It is a snapshot of being human, here and now, as well as a showcase of the fearlessness and the bounce-back-ability that makes us thrive. Most of all, though, this is a book full of light in difficult times and the strong connection shared experience and shared creativity builds.
