Dream Weaving

Inspired by the haunting beauty of the Scottish folk song Peat Fire Flame, this solo classical guitar work invites the player into a world of dream-like fantasy and quiet reflection. Moments of stillness give way to passages of growing intensity, moving between dramatic tension and luminous calm. The original folk song recalls the life of Scottish Highland crofters: the hard work and harsh climate they endured, the peat fires they depended on for warmth, and the flickering glow around which they would gather to share stories after a day’s labour. This rich imagery is woven into the music, offering both performer and listener a deeply atmospheric experience. This piece requires the bass E string to be tuned up to F# and the bass A string tuned up to B natural. Recordings: NAXOS release scheduled for June 2017.
