With the Earth fleet almost sestroyed, the Earth lies defeated and occupied by R'oorken invasion forces. The Gedna resistance, their leader stuck on a distant planet and an unwilling participant in a struggle against slavers, give life to the Gedrakna, an experimental hybrid, to aid them in the fight for the survival of mankind.
