Hank Boone runs a bait shack at the end of a dirt road in Nanjemoy, Maryland. He sells nightcrawlers, rents dock space, pays neighborhood kids a quarter a worm, and minds his business. He has a bad back, a '72 C10 he maintains with religious dedication, and a room down the hall he never fully opens. He also has a code. When the system fails the most vulnerable — when charges get dropped, juries hang, and children are told their truth isn't enough — Hank follows the thread. Quietly. Methodically. Part noir, part character study, it moves between the rhythms of a small rural life — the worm count, the fishing teens, the Thursday bar, the creak of dock boards in the May heat — and the darker work that happens in corridors and timber stands in the dark.
