Laughing Here on Earth

"Words are paintbrushes for the ear.” - Charity VanHorn As a writing teacher, I have repeated these words often to my students. I have encouraged them to play with words and to consider their color, hues, and tonal qualities. Words can create shadows and highlights. They can share emotions, create pictures and capture memories. As an artist, I was inspired to begin recording some of my own pictures through words, mostly through poetry. These musings collected first in my mind, then on scraps of paper, until they found their way to a blog, and most recently, to print. Having always been fascinated with personal histories and the legacies we leave, I hope these words become the cords, the threads, the fibers of a colorful heritage I can leave behind. Charity VanHorn
