904 The Jeffries Family Chronicles

It is my great pleasure to introduce you to the story of a loving family from the far Northeast corner of Washington, D.C., in an area called Deanwood, who did the best they could with what they had and always found a way to show love, respect and concern for each other as well as their fellowman. This story is actually a combination of eleven stories from the eleven brothers and sisters who shared a common bond created by loving parents, and assisted by a community which gave positive reinforcement to the family raised in a house whose address was “904”. Each chapter tells the story of what it was like being raised there starting with the first born to the last chapter by the eleventh born. While we have lost four of the siblings, those remaining siblings have each contributed to tell the story of those who could not tell it for themselves. The project is prompted by an unsuspected Christmas greeting from their deceased parents in which they ponder about their grand descendants and urge their children to create a testament to pass on to the generations that will follow about the “904” chronicles. Our fondest hope is that our descendants and their descendants will come to know something about why “904” was so important to us, and how it shaped our lives and our perspectives. Our best hope is that others who may read our story might relate to our experiences and document their lineage and family values for the sake of the sacrifices their ancestors have endured, and the knowledge and pride their offspring may gain. I feel that God has positioned our family with opportunities for spiritual success through our willingness to share our blessings with others. You the reader will find the common thread in all our stories involves our service to others. This is how we were trained, and this is how we have lived. All the Best!
