Intrigued by the memory of a childhood in south-east Asia, Charlotte, now free from the obligation of academia, turns her back on the monotony and melancholy, and follows her heart back home with her best friend in tow. So follows a whirlwind of coral reef afternoons, hazy metropolises, lumbering elephants, and easy companions. Unsuspecting of the trauma and heartache that he would eventually cause her, Charlotte lets a fellow traveller into her life.
