A very sad true story of an old pilot who failed to keep current on the subject of landing in fog. Included, are some thoughts on reduction of centerline crashes in the future. One might even conclude that the best solution would be simply to abolish the procedure of LOC only. This old author thinks the crosspointer needs both needles working, especially the glide slope.
