Surviving Pain

Christian P. Grimshei, a former international DJ, composer and lecturer, became seriously ill at the end of his psychology studies in 1998. The author has a neuromuscular disease, and at times he was unable to talk and take care of himself. In 2000, Mr. Grimshei travelled to the USA to recieve special treatment. Upon his return in Norway, the author incurred many challenges in receiving the proper care. The Norweigan health care system's lack of knowledge about the author's disease and an unwillingness to draw upon international expertise led to conflicting diagnosis and harmful treatments. The book reports on a succession of problems related to the care of patients with musclerelated disorders in Norway. The violation of fundamental human rights are some of the transgressions that are well documented.
