Tesserae Outtakes

Tesserae Outtakes illustrates this limited edition suite of fifty-four 5 x 5 inch photomontages, which are available as a limited boxed edition of six, available from Silverman Gallery, San Francisco (info at silverman-gallery.com), or from naxsmash group productions (naxsmash at gmail.com ) The Tesserae Outtakes are details of large photomontage images in Christina McPhee's 2009 photomontage project, "Tesserae of Venus", which explores energy-producing landscapes like petroleum fields, natural gas and geothermal production sites---where nature and technology mix in a new form of strange life. Sheltering structures called tesserae models appear inside each image, suggesting a future architecture to weather a carbon saturated atmosphere.
