The purpose of this research was to determine what the experiences of trauma survivors were in their Yoga practice and to what extent Yoga practice benefited trauma survivors in managing ongoing traumatic stress and symptoms. This study was formulated in response to the need for further research in trauma treatment and to current trends of integrating Eastern practices and body-focused therapies into psychological treatments.
Findings suggested that practicing Yoga may hold many benefits for trauma survivors in managing ongoing traumatic stress and reducing prominent symptoms of trauma. Also, participant recommendations of a Yoga program for trauma survivors provided implications for future treatment and program development.
