The Racial Disaster Faced by Asian Americans
The United States as a country, is associated with a dark history of racism and prejudice. Since the colonial era, the United States has been highlighted to engage in racial practices as well as the implementation of racially discriminatory laws. The most acknowledged racist discrimination is against the black community. However, other minority groups in the United States are also prone and susceptible to discrimination and prejudice. The Asian community in the United States is among the minority groups that continue to face the harsh reality of racism. Essentially, many Asian Americans have been victims of racial prejudice and stereotype. The plight of the community is one that has been less highlighted compared to other cases of discrimination in the United States (De Leon, 2020). However, the fact that racial prejudice against Asian Americans is not heavily highlighted does not mean it does not occur. In recent times following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the discrimination against Asiana in the United States became more apparent (Lee & Waters, 2021). Asian Americans were subjected to instances of prejudice and purported to be responsible for the pandemic. Therefore, following these prejudicial judgments, this paper provides an analysis and discussion concerning the racial disaster faced by Asian Americans.
